March Of Dimes- Houston 2014

I'm not sure what happened this year with my emails being sent out to family and friends asking them to join our family team, but they were lost in space. We had a small, dedicated, team. It was fun! It was our first year to be able to actually walk. Last year it poured the night before and they cancelled the walk.

One thing that I loved about the walk, were the family t-shirts. They tell a story without having to ask questions. The walk is a little emotional because you do see "in memory of" shirts and I quickly am reminded that our chances were grim in the beginning.  Walker is such a miracle and as we do our mundane daily routine, you push those memories out of your mind and ALMOST forget. Almost. Those memories are ingrained and unforgettable.

The handed our ice cream sandwiches. The kids were super happy!

We took the shorter route and headed towards all the fun stuff. There are a bunch of tents out there, but most of them are for companies. They do have a family tent where they serve pizza, chips, and drinks. They always have fun activities the kids can do and sell butterfly wings. Everything is free! (except the butterfly wings). Even the balloon artist!

 The have a nice little backdrop for a makeshift photo booth. Lots of signs and toys to pose with.

It was great day and for such a great cause. Can't wait for the 2015 walk!

Walker's Stalkers

That is our shirt design that Two Little Birds Design made for our March of Dimes walk. Isn't it just the cutest?! I'm so happy with it. The same company made Walker's banners for his birthday party. She is amazing, listens to what you want, and has a fast turnaround. Check out her shop!

March of Dimes Walk

This year we have formed a team for our local March of Dimes walk. We have appropriately named the team Walker's Stalkers. It was hard to decide how much we wanted to set for our goal but I went with a solid $500. If we get there, we get there. I'm not going to sweat it.

Walker Stalker Cookers take 2!

Here we are with our second drop off!

Lord have mercy! Look at all the yumminess! Where will we start?

 This week we were spoiled. We have: K's concoction of chicken, dried beef, bacon, potatoes, Lay's potato chips, cheese, SO FREAKING GOOD! Smothered pork chops; taco bake; broccoli, rice, cheese and chicken casserole; meat loaf; macaroni and cheese; C's mother-in-law's recipe, chicken enchiladas, spaghetti and Texas Toast; stuffed shells and cheese and cookies.

Walker Stalker Cookers

I have AMAZING friends! Okay, we, we have amazing friends! Walker is so lucky and he doesn't even know it yet.

My friend J put all this together. Every other Tuesday all my girlfriends meet at a specific location and drop off the food, then someone brings it to our house. Check out what they brought!

There is a bunch of different stuff: chili, chicken spaghetti, chicken and dumplings, king ranch chicken, spaghetti, BBQ baked potato casserole, Mexican casserole, cookies, Wanda Sue's famous cookie dough, spaghetti bake, taco soup, and this concoction that K whipped up. I know I'm forgetting something.

 And my sister in law Julie made us her delicious lasagna and dropped it off with R on his way home!

And this my friends, is a VERY happy husband. So happy that he said, "I'm in heaven right now!"
