Have a Good Weekend!

This happened again last night.....and then at 1am.
But look how big he is! He just wanted to roll around in my bed and then propped himself up on my belly. Crazy little boy.
He's in love with Graham Crackers at the moment. He gets so happy when you hand him one. In that picture he looks like a little boy. He's growing so fast. Yesterday I went back and looked at pictures of where we were last year. Umph. That made my heart hurt. He was 6 days post surgery #2 and was so swollen. I can't believe he hasn't been home a full year yet. Isn't that crazy?

Walker cried for an hour today until R came home from work. His teeth are bothering him so bad so he had a dose of Tylenol this evening and peacefully went to sleep. He does this thing now when I put him in his bed. He looks up with sad eyes and has his hands reaching up for me. I tell him "Goodnight, I love you. You are loved. Sleep with the angels." and walk out of the room. I always look back at him standing in his crib and now he has started reaching his little hand out for me. Oh! I just want to scoop him up but he needs his baby sleep.

We don't have much planned for this weekend since R is working. It's just the two of us and we have ran all of our weekend errands so far. A nice relaxing weekend at home. Have a great weekend, y'all!

Being a SAHM

Being a stay at home mom (SAHM) has been such an amazing experience for me. I am very fortunate that R works really hard to allow me to have this luxury. Walker and I spend most our days together alone and I just can not get enough of him.

Lately, Walker has been waking up in the middle night because his teeth are coming in and bothering him. I try to only medicate when he is really irritated and seems in pain. Other times I let him decide what he wants to do. So, for the past few nights he has been falling asleep in our bed while I watch TV.
I don't mind because I like to watch a little late night TV while I sink into my bed for the night. He likes it because Buddy will jump in the bed with us and he thinks that's the funniest thing ever. R likes it because he gets to spend some more time with him now that he is away so much. He only does this when he is sick or teething, so it's not a big deal to us. I move him to his bed when he falls asleep because I don't feel comfortable bed sharing.

Being a SAHM is so much more than watching soap operas and eating Bon-Bons on the couch. I'm with Walker all the time. I know what he is doing. I am able to comfort him if he is crying. I don't want to share these moments with anyone else besides family of course.

Lately I have just felt so in love with the way our lives have turned out. R thanks me every day for giving him such a sweet and perfect little boy. He always reassures me that I contribute the most to the family because I have the most important job between the two of us.

R and I were raised in two completely different worlds. He had a SAHM all his life and my mom always worked. So it was an adjustment in our relationship to figure out what we wanted for our family. We both thought I would be a working mom but after having Walker and every thing that happened, the choice to stay at home became evident. In a few years I will go to work but as the saying goes, "babies don't keep"...

Sunshine and Beautiful Weather!

We had some amazing weather today! When Walker feels the sun on his face he instantly has a smile spread across his face. He loves being outside. Nana took the boys on a walk in the wagon and he loved it!

Weekend Wrap Up

R has been working really hard these last few weeks. He works 12 hour shifts for 19 days straight and then gets 2 days off. He finally had his days off this weekend and Walker and I soaked up all of his time. We really didn't do too much fun stuff but we were together and that's what was important.

Walker got his second haircut because he needed it. His hair is crazy and grows really fast.

We plan to put our house on the market in a few weeks so we have been doing little things around the house to get ready for that. We saw this little lawn chair at Lowe's and had to get it. 1. It's made in the USA and 2. Walker loves it! He's a dangerous boy trying to climb in and also trying to use it for a step latter.

Happy Valentine's Day

Walker is super loved and he had many gifts to show for it on this Valentine's Day. I can't believe that he was still in the hospital anticipating his surgery tomorrow, a year ago. Time has really flown by.

"There's nothing to see here. Just a little something from Uncle P"
I dropped Walker off at Nana's house for some comfort time. I went to my friend Christie's house for some girl time and to make these amazing sugar cookies. I'm serious, they are to die for!  Uncle Paul bought Walker his very own Valentine's heart with a dog on it and a heart shaped M&M's. He then cooked Walker a Valentine's lunch.

After slaving away at  baking cookies I went to pick Walker up and brought him home to find a card from his favorite Twinsies from Colorado!
"And she writes: Give me candy and all the cookies and lots of love. The end". It kind of looks like he is reading, right?

"This is personal, Momma"

"this.is.for.my.eyes.only"

"Look how cute that puppy is!"
He loves his girls Quinny and Audrey. Walker and I also got a card from our mom's group Valentine Elfster, Katy and Harper from New Jersey. I had to throw the card away because Walker was obsessed with the glitter. He was licking it off. You can see where the problem was. Thanks Katy and Harper!

R and I have this tradition that started back in, I don't know, 2006? We tried to go out for Valentine's to a nice restaurant and the crowd was horrendous, so we went to Fuddrucker's. We started going every year and eventually my family started celebrating with us. I think people are starting to catch on to our tradition. Fuddrucker's had a lot of people in there tonight.

He was stuffed!
Walker enjoyed his first Valentine's Day at Fuddrucker's. He was stuffed and ready for bed.

I do have to give major props to my husband for again showering me with my favorite, Godiva chocolate covered strawberries. He goes out of his way from work to do this for me and I am very thankful for it. He had candy and two cards waiting for him this morning.

February 14 is a sad day for our family. Our last time as a family to celebrate the holiday was in 2010. This day is always filled with sadness in our hearts and minds. Today marks the last day I would hear or see my brother. He would pass away in the early hours on the 15th. We miss you, Nic. Every day. Every minute. Every second. You were loved more than you could have ever imagined.

Rough and Tough Boy

Walker has his first black eye. It happened super fast and I was so sad for my little guy. He does this one cry where you know he's in pain and as soon as it happened he was crying that cry. Our entertainment center has those storage baskets and those baskets are coarse and rough. He was being daring and tried taking a few unassisted steps and slipped and caught the corner on his eye on the corner of the basket. OUCH!

He still smiles for the camera though. Tough guy.

I hate when he hurts himself. He does this cry and then rubs his face and cries harder. I felt so bad for him and it took a while to calm him down. My anxiety level was through the roof. I hate having Walker cry.

Weekend Wrap Up

Eating a frozen pancake for breakfast. He's a weirdo but he's happy!
This weekend was family filled. We started out by having my sister take us to Sam's to use her membership card, to pick up diapers and wipes in bulk.
Cousins.

This picture is hilarious! Izzy crying because she wants to be in the basket with Walkie.

My Great Uncle Harry was celebrating his 80th birthday party and we headed up to the Hill Country to spend some time with family. Walker got to meet some of his aunts, uncles, cousins, family friends and some sweet ladies who prayed for him during those grueling early months. He was a hit at the party.

After the party we went to Clear Springs and indulged! Check out the onion rings. I love going to that place. Reminds me of when we were little and would go.

He was pooped! So exhausted and then slept for 4 hours that night. Awesome.
I am one that likes to be in my own bed, in my own home, with my own things every night. I do not sleep well away from R or my house. Walker is exactly the same way. He didn't go to bed until 1 and then woke up at 5 ready to go. The car ride home was brutal. Thankfully the soft rain put the kids to rest.
He is such a sweet little baby.

Walker came home and took a 4 hour nap in his bed. See what I mean? He loves being a home.

Free Zoo Day!

Walker had a busy day! Tuesday we always do lunch with my mom, sister and cousin Adam. We had also planned to meet some friends at the zoo later in the day. I can't remember the details but I think it is the first Tuesday of the month is free admission. That's a huge savings! Walker has yet to be around babies and I was worried how he would be. He adored them! Hayden and Connor are preemies and are destined to be some of Walker's best friends! He kept touching the boys and they would laugh at him. He loved them! He also had a blast with the little girls.

Some Pictures on this Super Bowl Sunday

I vow to update the blog more often. Between sickness and an active toddler who shows no mercy to his mother, I've been swamped!

Elbows on the table! No sir!

"I've got you now!" We bought a super big gate to keep Walker in the living room and not in the dogs water and food.

Walker getting down with the gate. I call this his "cell block tango" picture.

He's getting tall!

The sick face. Poor baby.
