Go Texans!

Our little family are huge Houston Texans fans. We saw this 24 month Matt Schaub jersey for Walker when we were out one day and thought he it might be big for him this year. Wrong! It's a little big in the arms but it fits everywhere else. Walker looked so cute and got so many compliments at James Coney Island and  the grocery store.

When it comes to eating we are pretty lenient with Walker. If he shows interest in any of our food, we let him try it. So far his favorites are beef sticks, turkey sticks, pork chops, and we let him try chili this weekend.  He really likes meat! His tummy doesn't seem to mind at all either.
Trying out the chili!

He liked it!
He wants more.

Papa and Walker in their jerseys!

New trick! Holding his own bottle!
Walker just started holding his bottle himself out of the blue. My mom nonchalantly told me that while we she was watching him Saturday night that he rolled from back to belly. That was a first but since we, R and me, didn't see it it doesn't count.

Thank you!

Making Emery's has made it over 30,000 views! Thank you!

My Life Lately

My life lately has been filled with lots of Walker and Mommy time. He's slipped in to this "I need to be with my Mommy every second of the day no matter what time of the day and night". And I'm not kidding with the no matter the time or day. Sometimes Walker wakes up at 3 am and just wants to see my face and get some snuggles.
Sunday night

Monday night

"That Daddy guy better get out of my face with that camera"

Tuesday Night

"If Daddy doesn't leave our room, I'm going to scream!"

Wednesday night

"I'll just look at Mommy until I fall asleep"

Thursday nap time

When we are in bed together, he gets really upset when R comes in the room. You think he's asleep and then BAM! He can hear R and starts making this uncomfortable grunting noise. R walks out, and Walker is back to sleeping. It's funny. I think it's because he's still not feeling 100% from the cold we keep giving to one another.

And I love it!

Two Doctor's Appointments

Lordy, we've had a busy day. We had two doctor appointments today in the med center that were so spread out. Hanging out at the hospital is not my ideal of a fun day. We did see a few people who remembered us though, so that was fun. Oh and the gift shops. Those are always fun!
Walker has grown so much that I had to drop the foot rest so his feet can dangle.
We started our day at Dr. Naik's office for a social visit. She just thinks Walker is such a miracle and kept asking if I really knew that. Of course! Walker does this thing where he smiles and then the person will laugh and he'll get shy and stop laughing. Well, when Dr. Naik made him smiled and she started laughing, Walker kept smiling bigger and bigger! He definitely remembers who she is.
"I'm a big guy!"
We walked circles from TCH to Women's Pavilion like 800 hundred times and finally it was time for the GI appointment. Mrs. Laura, the dietitian was on her way to the hospital and stopped by to get a peek of Walker. She said she could tell he's gained weigh. Dr. Carter was very impressed with Walker's 21grams a day growth. We are now switching from 24 calorie formula to 20 calorie formula. All that means is we are switching the way we are using Elecare. We return back two days after Christmas to see the results. If Walker has maintained gaining weight, we'll switch to either a formula we can buy in the store or to whole milk. Whole milk is 20 calories so if he gains on 20 calories of Elecare, then we're good. He's still not allowed to have really sweet fruit because they love bacteria and we are still giving his tummy some time to recolonize bacteria.
"In this picture you can see my chunky legs and shoes"
Walker will be 11 months in two days and he is 18 pounds and 12.2 ounces, which puts him in the 7.34%. He is measuring 27.3 inches and that puts him in the 3%. Shorty but chubby! I'll take it!

He has his flu shot and we are getting ours soon. I have made it known that Walker won't be around people that have not have a flue shot this year. I've been advised by multiple doctors that since Walker is a gut baby and if he were to get the flu, it would hit him like a train and require hospital time with IV fluids. Now you don't want to be the cause of that, do you? Get your flu shot people!

The bad part of the appointment is that short gut babies have a higher risk of having a milk allergy. So we are supposed to start trying to give Walker food with dairy and test this theory out. I'm really hoping he doesn't have it but if he does, gulp, we'll be a dairy free family.
:::Fingers crossed his tummy likes dairy:::

Edit: The best news was that Walker's liver and spleen are not enlarged! That's a common concern with being on TPN/Omegaven.

Wordless Wednesday!

She's Pregnant!

No, not ME! But someone equally important.

I talk about the Bump a lot and the ladies that I have met along the way. While I am very lucky to have great family and friends in my every day life, I have met some equally amazing ladies through this site. We have celebrated the first "February" baby, Walker, being born but has also mourned the losses of babies that didn't make it that far. We are a family of our own. We have inside jokes, we share secrets, we're friends.

Along the way came a girl named Kimberly. She was a young, spiritual, funny, quirky, LOVING girl that all of us felt connected to. She was expecting twin boys, Isaac and Porter. She would learn in her pregnancy that they had developed TRAP sequence. A mere 1% have the condition. She would go into preterm labor a couple weeks after I had Walker and she sadly lost both sweet boys.

It was a moving experience for all of us. As much as we are human and share our feelings with our family and friends, sometimes it's easier for us to write it out and share it that way. As a group, we circled around one of our own and wanted Kimberly and her husband to feel our love. There were tears, anger and lastly happiness.

I am very excited to share with all of my readers that Kimberly is expecting. My heart is full with excitement and joy and nervousness as if I was pregnant. To read Kimberly's blog, you can click here. She shares her story of Isaac and Porter and also talks about TRAP sequence. She is so strong and so brave and she very much deserves this piece of happiness.

Walker's First Trip to the Zoo!

Yesterday we had a play date at the Zoo. It was a beautiful day and we took advantage of it! While I didn't know it at the time, the last time I was at the Zoo was a year ago and I would shortly give birth to Walker in a few days. Last year we went to Zoo Boo and I was extremely hot and tired after.
Mallory, Walker and Adam.
Mallory is 3 months older than Walker and Adam is 6 months older.

The group of kids.
Such an exhausting day! Filled with a bunch of tears, spit up, falling down, and break downs! It was such a fun day!

So fun that my friend A sent me more pictures!
"What's up girl?"

"Oh yeah, come on in for some sugars!"

Stroller gang!

New Trick Tuesday!

Walker has been working on sitting unassisted and has done wonderfully. He recently has been practicing sitting in public high chairs. He LOVES his high chair at home and wants you to put him in it and bring him in the kitchen while you are doing whatever you are doing.

This morning at Chick-Fil-A, or food heaven as I like to call it, he mastered it! He also tried a piece of a hash brown but gagged and wasn't interested. Table food is a challenge and we have to smack and say a lot of "Mmm's" to get him to do the chewing motion and swallow. Which is funny because he does the chewing motion with solids. All in time!

"What are you doing Mommy?"

"Why are you playing with MY iPhone?"

"What's that guy eating back there?"

"I'm not liking having my picture taken so much"
Now you are probably wondering why as awesome as a Mom that I am, why he isn't in a high chair cover? Well let me explain that story to you. Yesterday after our lunch date and trips to Hobby Lobby and while at Target, Walker has a massive blow out! And I mean BLOW OUT! Target really needs to look into putting a bathroom in the back of the store.

Anyways, as a group we are high tailing it to the front because Walker reeks! When I go to pull him out I see poop everywhere! All over his cart cover, all over his leg, all over the basket, all over everything. I start to take him out and go into the bathroom and in the mist of Poopapalooza, I forgot to grab the wipes and diaper. It was a disaster! There was poop everywhere and all clothing and cart cover were thrown away. There was no salvaging any thing. So, now we are on the hunt for a new cart cover. I didn't like that anyways ;)

Lunch Date!

Our family has been busy now that my sweet niece is back in school. I have been dying to get out and get back on our weekly lunch date routine followed by Hobby Lobby and Target.

Walker's cousin LOVE him and get super excited when he comes around. Izzy thought it would be so much fun to put her headband on Walker. This is the second time in a week span that I have put Walker in girl head gear. Daddy wasn't too impressed! I think he would make a cute girl!

"Nana, you better take this off my head"

Look at those chubby cheeks!

Hey cute girl, I mean Walker!
