A Teaser of Walker's Room

Our house was built in the 60's and we knew when we bought it that we would put in some love before selling. Now that Mr. Walker is on his way, I've put a fire under R's booty to hurry up and get things done!

I already had bedding in mind for both a girl and a boy and had paint colors picked out in my head. I changed it if you are frequent reader and think I'm referring back to the bedding in a previous post. When we heard the news that he was a boy, it all became real. R was off Sunday and we woke up early to head to Home Depot to get sheet rock to spray and to pick out the color. Have you ever seen anyone shoot sheet rock before? It's a mess! I was in charge of holding this cardboard cutout on the edges of the windows so it wouldn't cover it. When all was said and done, I was covered with white stuff. We went with the orange peel drop down and it looks fantastic! Thank you Lord for blessing me with a man who knows how to do handy work around the house. Have I ever told you that R has built a house before in his short lifetime of 25 years? Pretty cool, huh? Any type of machinery that someone would need to fix a house or update, R has it!

Anyways, next came the paint in which I'm not allowed to help. I decided to go with Behr's dolphin fin. LOVE IT! It is going to look so good with Walker's dark espresso crib and dresser and blue/red bedding! He's also getting a new ceiling fan. Funny story behind that. One time R came home from work and said, "Know what I learned at work today? That if you have a ceiling fan in a baby's room it lowers the risks of SIDS". Did I mention that R works with nothing but men, well mostly men, a few women here and there. He often comes home with these ridiculous "man" facts that I sure no one cares to know about but men.

So here's just a little taste of R working on Walker's room.

What a Surprise!

He’s a BOY! Walker Williams Emery will be joining us in February! We are SO excited! I would post pictures of the ultrasound but we have a stubborn little boy. He doesn’t like to have his picture taken, just like his Daddy! He has R’s chin and I think my nose. He was moving all around and it was hard to get a shot of the goods but then he started to get tired from all the activity and settled down. At the very end he fell asleep with both hands on each side of his face. He’s precious!

There is no meaning behind Walker, just the fact that we both love the name! Williams is R’s middle name as well as his grandfather’s. I’m not the type of person that likes naming my children juniors or seniors and there was NO WAY I was naming my child my husband’s name! I don’t like it! Walker Williams just goes nicely together.

As excited as I was, I didn’t even make it out of the house without a bad case of morning sickness. Before you have this type of ultrasound they like you to be well hydrated and that all went out the window in a matter of seconds. I lost another 2 pounds but Walker is doing fine! He’s 11 ounces! R says that he’s going to be force feeding me and making sure I’m eating enough because he doesn’t want a scrawny boy. I have no doubt our baby will be a good size. I was 8 pounds and R was 10. R doesn’t understand that I’m half way, I still have a good 20 weeks more to go, the weight will come. It also doesn’t matter how much or how little I eat, I still get sick. But I’m not complaining!

I had to have more blood work because I had protein in my urine but all seems to be okay, just a fluke. I’m sick of giving blood by the way.

We are starting on the room this weekend and I can’t wait!

The Time Has Finally Come!

Tomorrow we find out baby girl or boy! We are SO excited! Feels like Christmas and I'm 4 years old! Along with everything else this pregnancy brings, we are soaking up our emotions this evening. We are having our first baby and finding out is really going to make it seem real. No more Baby E! Baby will have their name!

On another happy note, our stroller and car seat were delivered to the house today! I was sleeping but jumped up and started pulling and pushing the boxes into the house before the carrier was back in the truck, don't worry I remembered my manners and did give him a very quick, "Thank You!".

I LOVE our stroller! And car seat too. The second row of our Tahoe has captain chairs so it was very important that I find a car seat that was safe for baby to sit in by the door. I'm not worried about my driving or me running into someone, I worried about all the bad drivers who are texting, eating or just not paying attention to the road. We went with the Britax Chaperone car seat and B-Ready stroller. Britax's car seat has had a nice crash test rating, which was extremely important to us. My family keeps telling me to stop buying things for baby because people want to shower us with gifts, but Britax is expensive and they had an amazing promotion going on at the moment. I took full advantage of buying the stroller and getting the car seat for free!

Here are some pictures:

I put it together myself which was very easy. Just a couple things to snap into place. What I love about the stroller is that you can take the seat off and the car seat snaps into the stroller. Almost making it like a snap and go. The stroller is so high and I feel short pushing it. The handle bar comes right below my chest. The stroller drives smooth also. We've been pushing it around the house. Buddy wanted me to carry him and push the stroller. He's still my baby!

Well, I should be going now. Quality time with R and all of our excitement!

How big is baby? Baby is the size a juicy mango! I’ve never ate a mango before so I can’t describe it. It’s juicy, right?

Maternity clothes? I only have a couple of items that I re-wear and I still try to fit into some of my other clothes. I’m all about being comfortable.

Stretch marks? Not from being pregnant.

Sleep? It’s okay.

Best moment this week? Really being able to feel this little one.

 Any Movement? Yes!

Food Cravings? I drink a gallon of orange juice a week. I can’t get enough. I’m going to start diluting it with more water though.

Food Aversions? Even the thought or mental picture of spaghetti makes me want to hurl.

Weekly Wisdom: Enjoy your pregnancy, don’t complain and don’t make it the focal point in every conversation you have. People don't care as much as you do!

A Proud Moment

Last night as we were watching TV, we heard our top choice for a girl's name. I said it out loud and R responded "That's my daughter's name". Then under his breath he said it again softly, almost a whisper, "that's my daughter's name". The pride he had in his voice, not just for saying daughter, but for the baby that will be all his. My heart swooned with joy!

We can't wait to find out the sex of the baby. Boy or girl, we are so excited for the arrival of our baby!

8 more days! Thank goodness our appointment is at 8:30 am. I don't think I could last the whole day waiting!

Looky what I got today!

Some may call me spoiled, some may call me a brat, I just say I'm well loved!!

Kate Spade Maryanne diaper bag

One of the things I absolutely LOVE about Kate Spade is the storage bag it comes with. They have these little sayings, this bag said "she tucked her coral lipstick away and floated back to the party".

Glucose Test

So after that horrible 1 hour glucose test that I had blown veins and whatnot, the results came back that it was higher than average. I was totally bummed. Nobody wants that, I mean there's not bad about it if you follow the rules and whatnot but it wasn't what I envisioned for my pregnancy.
In between the knuckles, 5 days after being poked.

5 days after being poked.

I had to call back and make an appointment for the 3 hour glucose test the following Monday. My bruises were still fresh and I had to fast for this one. At the 1 hour she told me that I wasn't hydrated enough, which I think is a bunch of bologna! I was too! But now I find out that I had to fast and thought, "If she couldn't find my veins with me drinking and eating before the last test, what the heck is going to happen at this one?"

Well, let me tell you! She tried to go in on my hand (the bruise seen above), which effing hurt! But we got one vile and then I had to chug, chug, chug a hot drink (she forgot to put one in the fridge for me). Once that was over, every hour on the hour, I went back for another vile of blood. The second time she tried to go in the same spot but it blew and then resorted to the side of my wrist.

She got it! And another hour and another vile were down. I met a lot of pregnant people in the waiting room and heard ALL about their babies and how they LOVE Dr. Milner. See, I'm not the only one!

On the second hour is when things got tough. She went in on the wrist again and her luck ran out. She dug, and dug, and dug and I was squirming in my chair. That hurt! She finally had to go through my upper arm, which I don't get why she didn't in the first place. Last appointment she advised me to remember that she goes there with a butterfly needle. But she wouldn't listen. We got the rest of the viles from there and I was set to leave. She made a comment that discouraged me, "I'd say you every right to go eat whatever you want while you can". What the heck was the supposed to mean? Was she already assuming that I had gestational diabetes?

So, on the way home I stop at Wendy's and get me a burger and head home. Wendy's is probably the only place where I don't like their french fries. I get home and start eating my burger on the couch and I have to switch the boy dogs. I go to put Tie in his kennel and come back and my burger is gone. Now, mind you, I haven't ate since 6 pm the following night and it's already noonish. I seriously thought I had lost my hamburger. I start looking around the kitchen and go to bedroom to see if it's there. It's not. Buddy stole my burger while I was putting Tie up and ate it. He was pleasantly licking his lips, tap dancing around the living room. I had taken a few bites. I was hungry and my body was aching and so I cried. I cried because that burger was tasting so damn good and that little booger ate it!

Thankfully, Roy brought me home some food later on that night and let me be a big baby all night.
The next day I got the phone call I was waiting for, "Congratulations Mrs. Emery, you passed the 3 hour test and we don't need to worry about your blood sugar anymore!" Music to my ears! Let me just say, even if this has nothing to do with blood sugar, I don't eat or drink a lot of sweets. But the morning of the 1 hour at 5 am, I ate breakfast with my husband that consisted of eggs and hash browns mixed together and smother in ketchup with a big ol' cup of orange juice. I really think that is what made me fail!

But everything is good to go with Baby Emery and we find out in 15 days!

What do you think we will have? A baby girl or a baby boy?

A Link

I love  watching this link. I'm a bumpie, which means I'm always on The Bump.com, along with helpful ladies and sometimes self righteous women. But you learn a lot about deals, coupons, sales and other fun stuff like this website.

If you've ever wonder, "I wonder what's going on in my body right now?" while you are pregnant, take a look here.

I think people forget that when you are making room for a baby inside your body that your other organs are being pushed and shoved around. Like when you experience heartburn that people retort to that old wives tale that your baby will have a lot of hair.

It's an experience being pregnant. Some days you feel pregnant all over, some days you don't. Sometimes it sneaks up on you. Like today when I was doing the dishes. I guess in the past I would lean my stomach on the counter while I scrubbed over the sink. Now, I'm aware that I have a belly, well a bigger belly than before, and that is not something that is comfortable for me to do anymore.

It's so much fun! I'm growing a tiny little person that is half R and half me! What more could I ever ask for? Well besides more chances to be pregnant.

Best moment of the day: An out of the blue text from R that said, "I can't wait to see our kid". He sees my body changing and my belly growing and loves me more than ever!
